Don't have a motor around to test fit....but I have a set of headers that could easily weld extensions on....but will they fit bass ackwards? I can take a pic.....

Mike, I have thought about this as I too have some 911 headers laying around here. But when I look at the pics of the Bursch 914/6 setup, the pipes all go in a completley different direction (obviously). The point being if you have to do that much work to the 911 headers, you might as well build a set from scratch using the collectors and the first few inches of the head pipe.

So they flanges are bass ackwards? I figured.....thought maybe they just too short but they would fit the other way.....bummer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

cut the flanges off...turn the tubes around and reweld the flanges on?

I'm not sure, but I think you're gonna need to watch the shift linkage. I'm trying to visualize how the 911 boxes would end up swapped, but I don't know the parts that well. Even with the bursch headers the shift linkage is a bit close.

Didn't think of the shift linkage. But, I have been under the 911 and I think by flipping sides and turning backwards the high loop will hit the cam chain covers. That's an easy fix with a u bend from the tubing shop. There are still some issues.
What are we talking about for Bursch? $400? |

I did a test fit of Triad headers on my car at the get together. They give plenty of clearance at the oil cooler feed......something the Bursch don't have (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) ....header wrap.....The Bursch
also come with a lovely coat of black paint that neeeds to be blasted off so a decent coating will stick. They're cheep, tho. Dave needs to do a bit of work on the flanges at the heads...a tad too fat. Other than that, nice. Oil tanks: Quit fuckin' around and do it right. An oil tank is more than a box for oil....baffles, de-aireation(sp?), yada...Otto's (Mikey's favorite)has adaptors....metric to AN...Pegasus too, I think. I have a jig for the shift rod.....which reminds me, I owe one to somebody...gotta get that done. |
