Ive had this problem for a while, but havent had it this bad. I just filled up my tank(always happens on full tank) and around any corner, not fast, just a little faster than grandma's speed, it will leak fuel.
Is this from the breather tube? Should I plug the tube? Or could this be from the gas cap not sealing. Any idea's? Any fixes? Andrew |

Wipe up the fuel and get everything dry. Place (tape?) some paper towels around the cap and the breather tube. Drive a bit. Check the towels.
Old rubber gets hard and cracks, so it's possible the gas cap seal has gone bad. It's also possible one or more hoses have age cracked. If there's any doubt, replace all of them. Hose is cheap. Fires are bad. |

dont plugg the vent!
check the cap seal and make sure it seals tight. if the tank is full you'll always have some come out the vent if you throw the car in corners. exactly how bad is it? do you still have the large (clear/yellowish) plastic tube that goes from the top drain down and out under the car? i always get some gas drips on a full tank and cornering. nothing to be worried about unless we're talking ounces ... I knew I wasnt suposed to plug the thing.
It probably covered 1/4 of the top of the tank. And no I wasnt "throwing" it.. Just not driving like a granny. Clear yellowish? I dont know, I'll have to check it. I dont need to do the towel thing, I could see the gas, and smell it. It was wet. Andrew |

Oh and all the hoses are tight and new.
This is coming from the cap. Any where to get a new seal? as thats what Im guessing it is.. andrew (sorry for the double post) |

You could make a seal pretty easily. It's just a flat bit of rubber. Pry out the old one and use it as a template. You could also use a bit of plain rubber fuel hose cut in half lengthwise to make a convex ring inside the cap.

QUOTE(Andyrew @ Mar 16 2004, 04:57 PM) Clear yellowish? I dont know, I'll have to check it. da hose (green arrow) ... if ya have it you can't miss it. it drains any overspill from your vent/gascap down and under the car. it is supposed to stick out under the car through a hole for about 1" or so. also, if you don't have the expansion tank anymore (like myself), you can just stick the little vent hose into the large plastic one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) you still have the rectangular "collector" around your gas cap, don't you? (see pic also). Andy Attached image(s) |

Andy - flip your struts - rod should be down when extended - they will last longer. Got this from my Suspa rep on an install on a product we made.

My tank leaked from the gasket that goes around the base of the overflow plate. I had some bolts that I stripped and that was enough.

I also used the 75-76 plastic thing which didn't help.
