PM me for my address.
Saturday we will have a pot of chili with corn chips and cheese. Sunday will be spaghetti. Does anyone have anything specific they would like to drink or snack on? Andrew |

I will need two seal kits as well. How much do I need to bring? Why do you hate me? I hope to have enough kits for you, as well. I could have ordered them last week (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Kits are $40ea. I have 7 I believe. If so, they are now all spoken for (Ken and Andrew got the last 3). I may be able to get 3 more as I left one at McMarks in CA and he had 2 more I think. |

I did not know we needed to specifically order a kit. Apparently, the go to first unread button does not function the way I assumed. If it helps, I can get by on one kit, and just rebuild my second box later. |

That will likely work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) You may need to gut your second box for parts anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

There's a set of links near Evil's signature to previous clinics where they go through the stuff you need, or you can learn to use the search function.
The other clinics go through what you need to bring. It's about 18 pages of reading for each link. Like engines, yer gonna need a seal kit to button it up. The paper gaskets are color coded and are critical to setting the play. If you are lucky, somebody may not need the color gasket that you need, and you can get the play adjusted. Then keep it dry (no oil) , order the seal kit and finish it later. Here's a part list of tools that I searched out. Tools needed: -13mm socket -14mm socket -wrachet -vice grips (large is good) Tools that are nice to have: - Set of drifts - Large crescent wrench - Hammer - Larger pin pliers Things I (evil) will be supplying: - Aluminum work surfaces (disposable flat cookie sheets) - Aluminum parts wash basins (disposable roast pans) - Brake cleaner - Carb cleaner - Rags - Foul language, dirty jokes, methane, beer recycling, etc. Bring a table for a work surface. Bring a chair. Bring cardboard to keep Andrews place clean. Bring money, food, drinks, snacks, beer. Because I'm me, I'm bringing hand cleaner (gotta drive home), a roll of paper towels, cleaner in case I mess up Andrew's place, extra clothes, tools I think may need, etc. Rather have too many tools than not be able to take something apart. And, bring the tranny drained, and the exterior CLEAN. And, bring a spare tranny if ya got one. You may need the extra parts to make just one working one. |

Andrew,
I'm stealing my wife's small folding table. Guys, be gentle with her table or I'm in BIG trouble... She's a redhead and can be quite feisty....... I f she calls and asks about the table, she may make me give my phone to you..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Ken |

It is always good to meet other 914 owners face to face. There were eight of us there including a father son team. It was lots of fun and even with the cold and foggy weather the garage stayed warm. We just had to open the door every so often before we passed out from the evaporated solvents!
Thanks to Andrews and his family for hosting as well as the great Chili, Spaghetti and Pizza. Sorry I couldn’t stay for the music Saturday night as I was tired and I also had to leave early Sunday and felt bad I couldn’t help clean up. Not sure how many bags of cat litter was used on his garage floor! Anyhow, here are some photos… |

![]() Just about to get going on Sat morning. Left to right is Mike (Dr. Evil), Jeff (jkrobb2001) and Gene (Surfbus66) with his son. Gene is a cool dad as the transmission was for the father/son 914 project they are working on. I am sure his son got a real taste of adult "garage talk". I think any attempts at keeping topics at the PG-13 level went out the window within about 15 minutes. ![]() Ken (bigkensteele) showed up a few minutes later. Here he is showing the convenience of having a table with a hole in the middle. It allows for transmission fluid to easily drain onto the floor. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) Seriously, Ken was a great guy. By the end of the weekend we all had made a mess of the floor. |

![]() A family that cleans transmission parts together stays together. I think Gene is thinking at this point that he wishes he had brought ear plugs for his son. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ![]() A few people forgot to drain their transmissions before they showed up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

![]() Ken (kwales) cleaning parts. Ken's strategy for assembly centered around using hammers. We had to perform an intervention at least twice. Just giving you a hard time Ken. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) He and I actually had a hell of a time pulling first gear off the input shafts of his two transmissions. ![]() Mike sharing with everyone. Secrets of the 914 transmission or a story that involved him squeezing large volumes of puss from someone's head in the ER. You decide. |

Well, thats it for the photos. I had to leave around 2 PM. I am curious as to what time everyone finished up.
Again, thanks to Andrew for hosting. Thanks to Mike for doing the clinics and teaching me what he knows. It was great to meet everyone and I enjoyed hanging out with all of you. |

I am still recovering. I left OH at 10pm and arrived home at about 4:45am. Now I get to do all my homework for the week (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
I am so grateful for the chance to meet you all and for the hospitality of the Pokrandt family (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Good people, and good eats. |
