1972 914 1.8L (originally sold as 2.0L) number on breather 022129607E, also 072069. VIN 4722916686.
Essentially no rust. Rear trunk hinge needs replacing. Engine runs well, needs 2 injectors, windshield wiper motor. New tires. Stored in Illinois for my son who moved to Guam; originally from CA.

Mr. Holms, with all due respect, the only 1972 model year (3rd digit in VIN is MY = 4722916686) 914 4 cyl. was a 1.7L engine. There were no 2.0Ls until the 1973 MY (473....), so it could not have been originally sold new as 2.0L 914, and the 1.8L wasn't available until the 1974 MY, unless this was an engine up-build or change out.

If you look on the engine case top for the engine case number, and note the first 2 letters in that number, then you can either look at the link below to get the correct engine type/displacement to post here:

http://www.914world.com/specs/engnumbs.php

...or just post the full engine no. here & ask, then someone will jump in & help you out with that.

Hope this helps! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

& if your son is serving over in Guam, my Thanx to him for serving our country! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)

Happy Holidays! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The car is no longer available, I was able to buy the car from Mr. Holms this past weekend 2/6/2010. The car is really solid and we were able to strike up a very fair deal. It needs a few little projects done to it before Spring/Summer and I will have a fun car to drive around in.
