A buddy gave me an unused HD type one oil pump, but i find that the mounting holes are too small for the studs in my T4 case. Is it ok to just drill out the holes in the pump and cover?

No, sounds like you have a pump made for a 40hp case with 6mm studs. Post a pic, is the body iron or aluminum? gear size? who made it?
Honestly maybe it could work but I'd be very careful of the depth, clearance of the cam and the fit in the bore.
A lot of those no name pumps are cheap Chinese junk.

Pump is aluminium with the flanged steel cover plate.

Gears measure 1.274" in dia, and are .984 tall.

Here is a pic. Also, a pic of my old pump. I can see some scoring. think its new pump time?
