Ya`ll out west have it made, lots of members and get togethers. Here in P`cola there are very few 914`s. Smitty is a 914 guy, has made up a rotisserie, he also has a back yard full of 914`s. In the last ten or so years I have looked at "Lil Red"s bottom and never saw the fiberglass and aluminum that the PO had so artfully concealed with under coating. Running over a few cones revealed the ugly. It sure does look different with the car turned over. I have a new rear floor pan. Well one thing lead to another. What I thought was just the rear pan turned into the complete pan and a cross brace. so "while I was in there" new zinc steel fuel lines, bent on job, ran some wires for gauges to be added. Going to clean and rebuilt peddle assembly. Also going to spray everything with Eastwoods black rust encapsulator. You sure can see alot more with the car upside down. I found that the driver side front fender was replaced at some point, a pretty fair job but I am going to clean it up a bit. The PO had used bondo, fiberglass and some aluminum sheet on the floor. It is all gone now. Well back to work.

After replacing the fuel lines I found the original ones to be nearly perfect. Wondering why I changed them other then because I was there. Will start welding in the new pans this week. Plan is to have it reassembled and back on the road before my 60th birthday. Sure wish there was a few local 914 owners around for a reassembly party.Damn I`m getting old.
