I actually did give George the benefit of the doubt. He's probably still laughing about that.

Of course every vendor makes mistakes, and with that in mind could I ask a question? Why is it that these threads about AA pop up so regularly? As Andy observed, it's like clockwork. But no similar threads about other vendors. You'd think if the cause was "the internet" that all vendors would be treated equally badly, but it's always Automobile Atlanta. Why is that?

I used to hope that after a few dozen of these threads George would finally figure out how much poor customer service has cost him over the years. But these new threads from people who've been screwed by AA are never ending, pretty much the same I posted ten years ago myself.

I repeat it's great that YOU've had no problems and I hope that's always the case.

Jeeze! not this again...every few months another thread bashing some vendor.

Admin team... Would it be hard to create a vendor ranking section. Simple thumbs up or thumbs down. We could list all the various vendors and when each of us have transactions we can give a simple thumbs up or thumbs down as to how the transaction went. Maybe this will eliminate some of these threads as well as provide some accountablity to our vendors.

A HUGE benefit of calling AA is that you get to talk with someone who can answer ANY question about the 914. I've had a couple of errors in orders that were corrected. A lot of people on this site have a lot of knowledge, but George's experience is vast and he's willing to talk on the phone. I've never talked with someone at a Porsche dealer who knows as much.

Look, you want to buy from AA great. You don't, also great. But either way you sure as hell better know who you're dealing with.

No what will be funny is all the posts after the sale complaining about the usual AA problems. It happens everytime AA has a sale.

Oh Oh!!! Are we complaining about vendors? A year or so back, I was surfing the PP site and I noticed that the rear bumper plug that covers the hole in the bumper where the tow hook screws in was available - and cheap! Mine was a little crazed so I thought COOL!!! I ordered it, all by $5 something for the shipping. When it arrived I headed right for the garage thinking I was going to remove that dingy old one and plug in this new one. That was until I got the box open and discovered it was a black plastic plug... Huh??? It is supposed to be chrome! So I called. Oh yea! They said, "do you want to send it back?" At my cost. So, I am out the money to buy it, ship it, and ship it back. Oh hell no. I through that stupid thing out and saved myself $5.

Moral of the story is they are all idiots sometimes. Just work it out with George. He seems like a reasonable guy.

That is because we the largest and most popular supplier of 914 parts and have been over the last 31 years. We sell so much in 914 we are much more likely to make a mistake than anyone else especially with the weird mix we sell.... used new aftermarket factory made up kits WHAT A MESS! 500 good orders one bad one, lets beat up on the guy who has all of the enthusiasm all of the parts and ALL OF THE CARS!!!!!!!!!

We had the chromed plastic ones made after the factory discontinued them and rather supplies a cheap black rubber looking piece of junk they call their supercession.

I have had very good luck in ordering stuff from AA for many years. I have had good service, and complete satisfaction on the only order that was delayed. I think you may have a very small gripe in the order mix up, but trashing them for selling you something that was manufactured closer to your house than Georgia and bitching about the shipping is totally uncalled for. If you were worrying about finding a vendor near your home, you have to do some homework. Any place that sells a wide variety of parts gets them from all over. You bought an item for a specified price, and you should expect to pay shipping from Ga., unless you had other arrangements. You didn't specify where it was manufactured, you have no gripe, and shouldn't expect anything more than you got.
