GTS is fantastic! The owner Stefan is a stand up guy and a car nut as well. He will help you find the perfect seat for your car as well as your back. Just remember if you have a wast over 36" most of the 914 seats are to narrow. Ben. |

I'm using a Scheel. It's very comfortable and supportive.
It looks like Koenig. But only because it was re-upholstered in materials not matching the original. Attached image(s) |

I have been lusting after these Carbon/Kevlar seats from Caterham, IIRC they are around 4lbs.
And yes, they cost more than my 914 did... |

I used these...
This last one gives it away: ...yup, they're 914 seats. Dale Hancock of Hancock Upholstery poured over pictures of real GT seals and used the Recaro's in my 911 as a template base. He glassed in the side bolsters and matched the material and stitching of a Sheel GT seat from back in the day. |

I have wide shoulders and a big belly. My car came with a schiel seat that jamie now has. Was not a option for me as a dd or weekend car.

A Lincoln mark V is very comfy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) I'm 245 with a 38 waist. Stock seats fit the best for me. |

figured someone would suggest SUV (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)
But I am down 12# and working on the little weight issue (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) And good stock seats are harder to find than after market seats (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) That said, if you live near Chicago and have good black Drivers seat (you do know that drivers and passengers are not the same) I would take it. Otherwise I will be buying one that will keep my 250# in place during autoX corners. No SUVs needed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) |

Eric,
Real nice seats. I've thought about something similar but never thought you could go that far with a stock seat. Thanks for posting. |

I was always under the impression these seats were all made by the same company and sold thru different vendors. Going to order from GTS seats. Really want the leather LeMans seat installed before the end of April. It's not a necessity but it would be nice.

I'm curious about the use of 4/5 point harnesses with these seats. From some of the pics here it looks like some are using 4 point and there are no " holes " in the sides of the seats for the belts to go through. Looks like they go over the bolsters is that correct ? I assume that's acceptable for AX's and DE's ? So if using a 5 point you only have to alter the bottom seat cushion for a sub-belt right ? Just trying to learn. Thanks

MY two cents relative to PCA (and you may know this)
for DEs after market seats must have slots for belts. I had some period seats and sold them because wouldn't comply and thats what I wanted to do. Rationale is a couple of accidents resulted in belts separating and bad stuff occurred as the seat held them apart to far. While 914 seats are less likely for that to happen there was no considerarion. Assume AX is ok .......but not DE and thats (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) TOT I'm curious about the use of 4/5 point harnesses with these seats. This is my drivers seat. Bought it circa 1978. It is a Recarro designed for the 914. Sadly, I could only afford one at the time so the car always had mismatched seats. Not a total loss though - wife would have had a tough time with the Recaros when she was pregnant.
I'd love to find one of these for sale. I still have the drivers seat that I removed and it is good enough to please a CW but it is destined for the passenger seat as all three of my other seats are getting pretty rough. |
