So this morning I picked up the Audi from its 40,000 mile major service -- $800 to basically change the oil, plugs and filters, but I digress (thank god it's a company car). Since the time, place and weather were right, I decided to take the "extra scenic route" to work as opposed to the "regular scenic route". This is Cornell Rd->Mulholland->Piuma->Las Flores->PCH. Fun stuff.

Anyhow, lo and behold, as I approached Mullholland & Las Virgenes at a healthy clip, I spotted a very distinctive roadster ahead with the double-bulged canopy, prominent exhaust tips, and massive rubber. Hmmm...it's not an F360 Modena Barchetta (I see one of those almost daily near the office)....so it can only be one other thing!

Sure enough, then I hear the unique and aggressive V10 exhaust note as I pull up closer. It is obviously tuned to sound "air cooled" in a fashion kinda like a Boxster on steroids AND viagra. OK make that TWO Boxsters on steroiods and viagra...

He was headed in the same direction as me, and the road was clear for a spurt so a big smile flashed on my face (and no doubt on his...the lucky rich prick (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ).

After the right turn towards the coast, he goosed it slightly and I swear that in the split-second it took for my turbos to spool up, the CGT jumped multiple car lengths ahead. Since this is heavy speed-trap country we didn't take it beyond a 1st gear redline sprint but that car is amazingly fast and the sound is absolutely wicked. Keep in mind that my S4 does 0-60 in low 5's. It just plain walked away from that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)

The guy turned off a while later and I had to get to work, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more of these cars in the near future. I would love to see/hear one turn a few laps at the track.
