So i have been thinking about this for a long time and I finally took the plunge. this is what i came up with.
Introducing the new GPRBar for Porsche 911’s and 914’s. A German Parts & Restoration exclusive, designed by Tarett Engineering, the NEW GPRBar is 19.4mm equivalent and is a modular design that can be used as a complete system or can be purchased separately as the BarKit (the bar and bearing blocks) to install with your stock sway bar arms and drop links or the ArmKit (the adjustable sway bar arms and adjustable drop links) to install with your stock through body sway bar. These light weight hollow sway bars are half the weight of a solid bar with the same stiffness. The bar itself is made from aircraft-quality 4130 chrome moly steel, heat treated and zinc plated for strength and durability. The adjustable arms and adjustable drop links are CNC machined from aircraft-quality 6061-T6 Aluminum for its strength and durability. Correctly sized, precision, Teflon-lined rod-ends mean smooth and quiet operation, long life, and high reliability. No wear and rattling problems, like those seen with other designs, due to undersized or low quality rod ends. Thermoplastic bushings impregnated with Teflon and reinforced with Kevlar provide smooth operation, long life, and high resistance to deflecting under heavy loading. All necessary hardware is provided in zinc plated metric class 8.8. GPRBar $475.00 BarKit $250.00 ArmKit $250.00 Also available for the Porsche 911 is the rear GPRBar. Same great materials as above with a 19.4mm equivalent bar. This is a complete sway bar set up. (911 Rear GPRBar $475) |

Looks like a really nice product (as with all Tarett Engineering products). One question; is the difference between this bar assembly and the ones available on the Tarett site that yours is equivalent to a 19mm bar and the Tarett sites bar is equivalent to a 22mm?? thanks. Again, NICE product!! I am planning a front bar upgrade in the future and it's nice to have such high quality choices out there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

This is a complete sway bar set up. A suggestion from someone who actually uses his swaybar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) You (Tarett) need to add markings to the sliding cutout where the drop-link is moved back/forth. I have a very early Tarett bar and otherwise like it. I added my own markings because i use the bar often and without markings setting both sides equal is more guesswork than anything ... 10 slots would be perfect. Even better if you actually put numbers on there! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif) Andy |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Yes there are 2 major difference between the two bars. first, the Tarett bar is 25.4mm diameter with the efective rate of a 22mm solid bar. The GPRBar has 22.22mm diameter with the efective rate of a 19mm solid bar. The other difference is that the GPRBar is modular. You can buy just the bar and bearing blocks and use your stock Porsche sway bar arms and drop links or you can get the Arm Kit and use your stock Porsche sway bar. The Tarett sway bar end is much larger than mine and will not tighten down over a stock sway bar end. |

One question i have is are the cars symetrical enough for this to work correctly? |

I will see what i can do about this. Great idea. One question i have is are the cars symetrical enough for this to work correctly? Yes. Here's a pic of the Smart Racing Swaybar. We run those on the 911 race car and the markings really help setting the bar in the pits between runs where time is crucial. The front would be even better if it had numbers like the rear bar does ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) Andy ![]() |

Aaahndy, you can make a lot of markings with a "Sharpie" permanent marker pen. Just make sure you measure from the same point on each side. One of my sway-bar arms has markings that are crossed out because I measured from the other end of the arm on that one. Oops.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Any idea how long that sharpie mark will last? I do. About 2 AX days. Like i said, this is from the perspective of someone who actually likes to play with his swaybar settings frequently. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Andy |
