Jonathan so the round retaining elements are Bearings not just the OE cups for rubber (or other) style bushings? Can they be removed / rebuilt? Purchased separately? same with the arms can they be purchesed w/o links?
I guess the related question is what is the dimension of the (square) mounting ends? Last question ...how much does it weigh? |

> I have a very early Tarett bar and otherwise like it. I added my own markings because i use the bar often and without markings setting both sides equal is more guesswork than anything ...
Markings seem like a good idea to write settings down, but I don't think it matters if the sides are exactly even. Left/right cornering will be the same and the effective rate is just somewhere in between the "long" and "short" arm. Let me know if I'm wrong though... -Steve |

Let me know if I'm wrong though... You are correct as long as you don't want to set the bar by numbers. For example, the Smart Racing bars come with charts that let you look-up the exact amount of stiffness per bar-size and position of the drop-link on the arm. Plus, different size bars have overlapping settings. While i usually just go by feeling, it's sometimes good to be able to refer to the charts. The charts expect both sides to be set equal. I know this is probably not your typical use, but on the 911 racecar we even sometimes swap swaybars inbetween run sessions and it's crucial to be able to know exactly where they overlap in order to set them correctly for the next session. So the $475 GPR bar is just the bar and bushings, or the whole kit with arms and droplinks?

I have one of these at my shop right now and it is very, very nice. It's about time we had some adjustable ends to fit a stock bar. I've wanted one for years.

markings, YES! we have a Tarret bar on the 10jereen. we do change settings frequently also. lets all pester Ira till he adds them.the nice thing about a GPR vs Tarrett is that the GPR is better suited for general 914 use while Tarett bar is good for more extreme performance minded 914s
splines? why do you believe splines to be of benefit? |

So the $475 GPR bar is just the bar and bushings, or the whole kit with arms and droplinks? The whole kit; Bar, Arms and Drop Links is $475. If you want just the bar and want to use your stock arms and droplinks it is $250 and if you want just the arms and links to use on your stock bar it is $250. |

The round retaining elements are called 'bearing blocks' and house a thermo plastic teflon impregnated 'bushing' that takes the place of the stock rubber type. the bearing blocks and bushings can be removed and "rebuilt" but based on past performance in the Tarett bars i will guarentee the bushings for life. They just wont wear out. The arms could be purchased with out the drop links for special projects but that said, the arms are not compatible with the stock drop links. You need a drop link with a spherical rod end to use with the arms. The square on the arms is 19mmx19mm. This is the same size as the Tarett Bar but mine comes with spacers to bring the size down to just under 17mmx17mm, or the size of a stock sway bar end. As to the weight question, the complete bar with arms and drop links weighs just under 7lbs. The bar alone weighs 2.68lbs compared to 3.12lbs for a stock 914 bar and 6.46lbs for the Weltmeister solid 19mm bar. The front arms and drop links complete with hardware weigh just 2.5lbs. I think that covers it but let me know if there are any other questions. |

If somebody made a REAR 914 swaybar with better quality hardware and improved geometry vs. the Weltmeister, I would definitely be interested.
I know it is a very small market since you can't cross-sell to the 911 guys so it's unlikely we will ever see this, but wishful thinking never hurts. |

Thank you |

I got my GPRBar in the mail today and it looks great. I hope to install it tomorrow (maybe this evening).
I've got a question. What are the 4 shims for? |

They go between the bar end and the arm to make the fit snug. The shims should be on adjoining sides not opposite sides. if you have any questions let me know. Jonathan 800-321-5432 |
