I picked the one up that was in the classifieds.... it sure will look nice on Dad's car... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) I was going to buy the one from Casey944, but a friend lured me into a 22mm (price was right) and I was not happy with the 22. So I will go and install this bar in the next few days (hopefully tonight) and I'll report back. I'll take some picture too. |

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
If you get the arms with it, set them full soft and start bringing them in until you've dialed in the comfort level you're happy with. Good luck. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) For a new install, always start by setting the bar to FULL This is by far the safer approach! I need to install the bar into a car that has never had a sway bar... or should I say, Mark is going to install the bar... etc... |

The New GPRBar is installed. I took it for a short test drive and it really seems to be what I was looking for as far as performance.
The install was straght forward and from start to completion of test drive I spent about 2 hours. Probably the most challening part was getting the bar through the second mount. I found that I had to loosen the mounts and I was able to get the bar through w/o much trouble. Comparison of sway bars. 22mm Weltmeister w/factory arms; stock bar; GPRBar. ![]() Factory arm length compared to GPRBar ![]() Installed pic ![]() installed pic; looks like I need to clean some more grime from the wheel wells ![]() Installed pic. with the longer arm set at full soft, you are probably at the same spring rate as the stock bar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Looks good Rob....those are nice looking bars that GPR puts out. |

It sure feels better than the stock bar. I am not getting the lifting in the rear on freeway on ramps like I was getting with the stock bar & I am and not getting the flat dive into the corners (with the 22mm bar) nor do I feel any oversteer. So, how do I know what setting of the bar will give me a true 19mm bar spring rate. I assumed that setting the drop link at the end of the arm it would give me the spring rate of 19mm. What will the spring rate increase to as the drop link moves closer to the bar? Can we make or get a chart to help define the setting? thanks -Rob |

QUOTE with the longer arm set at full soft, you are probably at the same spring rate as the stock bar Just for the fun of it... I'm going to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) That's exactly what I would do. Full soft and then if you needed more for an auto-x event, slide them around a bit and play with the rate. |

Trying to set a bar "by numbers" for a initial setup is asking for trouble. Start with the bar set to full No two cars will have/need the same settings. You need to forget about numbers and dial in the bar to where your car handles the best according to your personal preference. Just a word of advice. DO NOT attempt to dial in a bar on public roads. If you overshoot the settings you can end up with severe oversteer which will result in the car switching ends during high speed cornering!!! Do your setup testing in a large empty parking lot away from anything you can hit. I usually use one of the local AX venues to do some fine tuning. All you can hit there are plastic cones. I think you've got that backwards Andy. soft front bar = oversteer Baaaah ... Why do i always reverse the two? Go figure ... Chris is right, it's the other way round ... If the rear is lose, tighten the front. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |
