(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I have a 73 with flat fenders. Got an oppertunity to pick up a set of 16x7 fuchs and full 911 front susp. and brakes for it. but will those wheels fit? could I roll the fenders and squeeze them in?

16x7s can fit. Some folks make 'em fit by rolling the rear lips. Some folks make 'em fit by using a very low profile. Some people can't make 'em fit. I have a 2- 7's, 8 6's & 2 8's. Right now the only wheels I'd put on a stock fendered car are the 6's. The 8's are for the front of the race car when it's flared. The 7's are leftovers. I've already traded a set of 7's for 6's.

Others will have different ideas. Those were just mine.

Craig L. (Boxstr) has some pics of a yellow car with 7's on the back. You might be able to find it by doing a search here for 16x7.

Oh, if you're talking about putting them on the front, I think that is simple and no problem.

16x6es are a much better fit. One is supposed to be able to find them cheap since all the 911 guys upgraded to 16x7/8s.

I put 16x7's on with 205/45 tires. It was necessary to roll the rear fender lip on one side.

unfortunately 6s aren't the bargain they once were. I hunted for quite a bit for #7&8. I ended up trading even for a set of 7s. At the Tweeks swapmeet today the only guy that had 6s wanted $300/pair and those were in need of a refinish.

I have 16x7's with 225/50-16 Re730's. The fenders are rolled not just the lip but the whole fender. I have too much negative camber and alittle too much toe in, but there is enough room to fix the camber. Darn more work for me now. rrrrrgh! Thanks Mark

These are 16x7 Fuchs front and rear. The tires are Dunlop 205 45 16. The rear lip was rolled. They work great and look just as good.

Man talk about a fast answer. this site rocks. I think I will give it a shot, I just can't pass up the price. I am getting all four wheels, the front brakes and the spindle/struts for $350. I am planning to redrill the rear hubs and see what happens. thanks to all for the help

I have 16x7's as well; my rear fenders were pretty seriously rolled and pulled so I am going to go to 225/50's next. I have 205/45 Hoosiers on there now and there's extra room.

BTW I would check those wheels to make sure they are factory! If you get all that stuff for $300 it's an effin' steal! 16x7 Fuchs have been going for $175-225 EACH around here.

Also BTW one reason people are suddenly hot for 16x6's is that's what is used for centers when the custom Fuch-centered 17's are built. Lindsey Racing does that, and a few other shops I think. They are sweet wheels but not too applicable for most 914's...

Kinda off topic, does anyone know the maximum tyre width that will fit on 6s?

Blaize..

I run 16x6s on all four corners, too. Never tried 7s, so I can't help there. A lot of the 911 guys are looking to get rid of 6s to upgrade to 7s... so snatch them up and hit a swap meet!
