Update: As of 2/4/2013, I am no longer doing rebuilds for the general public.
See here for info Transmission Rebuild Service BlueSkyMotorsports.com Which transmission do you want in your car? The one on the right... • 30+ year old seals and gaskets • Worn syncro rings that are doing damage to syncro hubs and sliders. • Unprotected Magnesium that is rusting away (Yes Magnesium rusts and don't count on 30+ years of oil and grease to protect it!) • So much oil and grease that you have to take a shower each time you touch it The one on the left... • New seals and gaskets • Disassembled and inspected • Cleaned in an industrial parts cleaner that does not damage Magnesium • Worn parts replaced and adjusted • Reassembled (includes new external hardware) • Coated with Tectyl (the same cosmoline like waxy coating used by the factory to protect the Magnesium case) Why postpone that rebuild? Simple problems today (such as worn syncro rings) can result in expense repairs later (replacement of syncro hubs and sliders) if not addressed now. Why choose me for your transmission rebuild? • I do this because I love it. I am a long time sports car enthusiast, 914 owner and rebuilt my first 914 transmission over 20 years ago. • I pay attention to details and take this work seriously. • This is a “word of mouth” business and my priority is to provide you with quality service at a great price. Price See my website for more details. I offer more than just complete transmission rebuilds, but a complete 914 transmission rebuild is $400 + parts and shipping. I want to thank my 2010 customers for helping me get the ball rolling. It has been a lot of fun so far! For me it is quite exciting to hear back from a customer when they install their rebuilt transmission and enjoy it on the road or track for the first time. I will continue to offer specials periodically, but as things are well underway, I am closing out my introductory $400 full rebuild pricing as of 1/1/2011 and will be returning to my normal rate. I have a few customers that I am already working with who will get the intro discount (you should know who you are, but if you are not sure contact me). I am looking forward to continued success in 2011, and will be announcing some new offerings in the near future! Thanks, Richard Casto Owner, Operator, Member Blue Sky Motorsports, LLC |

My wife is heading back to school (working on her teaching degree) so I have motivation to bring in some money and make up for her lost salary. So I am adjusting my price downward a bit to help entice more customers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Full case rebuilds are $400 plus parts Gear stack only rebuilds are $275 plus parts See my website for more details. I bought a larger media blasting cabinet last year, but have been slow to get the news out that I am also able to media blast transmission cases in addition to the chemical cleaning I already do. I also can do things such as... * Re-gearing (common for V8 conversions and/or track/race cars.) * First gear delete and lockout (common for V8 conversions.) * Set Pinion depth and Ring Gear backlash. This is needed if you are using an unmatched set of Case, Ring and Pinion, or other major surgery. * Flip Differential to convert transmission for mid-engine use. * Conversion of 914 "tail shift" to "side shift" * Replace stock open differential with limited slip (LSD) or torque bias (TBD) differential You can contact me by... * Email: sales@blueskymotorsports.com * Phone: (919) 283-9373 * Or via PM here.
