The one on the right... • 30+ year old seals and gaskets • Worn syncro rings that are doing damage to syncro hubs and sliders. • Unprotected Magnesium that is rusting away (Yes Magnesium rusts and don't count on 30+ years of oil and grease to protect it!) • So much oil and grease that you have to take a shower each time you touch it The one on the left... • New seals and gaskets • Disassembled and inspected • Cleaned in an industrial parts cleaner that does not damage Magnesium • Worn parts replaced and adjusted • Reassembled (includes new external hardware) • Coated with Tectyl (the same cosmoline like waxy coating used by the factory to protect the Magnesium case) Why postpone that rebuild? Simple problems today (such as worn syncro rings) can result in expense repairs later (replacement of syncro hubs and sliders) if not addressed now.
