Hello,
I am doing a little research into the 914 Drivers Manual, would anyone know if there is there a definitive list of printings for years, languages and distribution companies?

I have several manuals, all list the month and year of printing along with the number of manuals printed within that run.

The 4 manuals I have are:

914/6 USA #4627.23 1 M VIII/70 Edition 71 (English)

914/4 ROW #4631.20 500 VIII/71 Edition 72 (English)

914/4 USA #4631.23 500 III/72 Edition 72 (English)

914/4 USA #4645.23 9,6 M VII/72 Edition 73 (English)

Anybody else want to contribute, any 914 manual you have is fine but I would like to hear from owners with the original manual.

I think there is a lot of data that can be very useful, I can set up an Excel spreadsheet.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm afraid I didn't get the point of this sentence (sorry ... english is a foreign language for me), but I do have an original manual from each model year, each model in german, english (UK), english (USA) and france ... and some italien

what info would you need?

Hello Wolfgang,
Thank you for responding, I am reproducing the info on the first page of one of my manuals, there is a model designation in a box ie: 914/6

Below that is the info which appears as

4627.23 1 M VIII/70 Edition 71
Printed in Germany
specification are subject to change without notice

4627.23 (this I believe is the Porsche internal document number)

1 M (this is the number of manuals printed 1,000)

VIII/70 (this is the date August 1970)

Edition 71 (Model Year)

Beneath the info listed above, at the bottom of the same page, there is an indication of country such as

USA

(For cars designated as VW/Porsche I assume the English version of the manual is ROW)

The info I want is the line - "4627.23 1 M VIII/70 Edition 71"

Additionally for owners that have the original manual for their car, please include the vehicle build date.

This is the info I would like to start with along with the country and language.
I hope this makes things more clear.
Thanks,
Mike

thanks for your explanation

I have something about 45 different original manuals and currently very little time, so it might take a week or two ...
but as soon as find some spare time, I will dig them out and show the info

I own 2 '70/6's with original owners manuals.
(1) 01/70......4621.23....2 M II/70....Edition II/70
(2) 03/70......4621.23....2 M II/70....Edition II/70

I also have a mint spare for USA.
4621.23......500 III/70......Edition II/70

Note; Both cars were sold new in the US in May/'70.
I'd be curious to see Edition I/70.

Hope this helps.

Don

Hello Don,
Thanks for contributing, I don't think there is a II/70 edition, I suspect that there is a VII/69 version with at least a 1 M (1,000) printings sure would cover the first few months of 914/6 production.

Mike, you don't think there is a II/70 edition? Is this a mis print on your part? Or are you suggesting I have two forgeries issued to the original owners 40 years ago?

Acknowledged, Mike.
Good luck on your thread. You will be putting Wolfgang to the task, but he loves this stuff anyway.

I marked some irregularities in red, to point out that these are no typos from my side

as you can see, the 2 digits behind the point (from the Porsche print number) are the country code
these are the same codes as at most of the other printed documents like price lists, color charts, marketing brochures, and and and ...
