I found a Porsche 914 Puzzle from Piatnik (Company in Vienna / Austria, so not homemade) on german eBay recently.
It's still originally sealed and consists of 120 pieces.
Never seen it before ...

Nice. And ironic, considering how many pieces many 914s are made up of these days.

I contacted Piatnik to learn if the puzzle was still available.
They just answered my question ...

"this puzzle was sold 35 years ago ... we are sorry ..."

Hard to tell from the image, those could be 5-lug steel wheels with hubcaps ...

it has also got the "prototype side mirror" and the "prototype gas filler" - both like 914111 (tangerine 914-8) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

Aha!

Are the windshield washer nozzles very close to the wiper arm base?
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Andy

PS: Can you post a higher resolution scan? It's really hard to make out details ...

But more importantly, since it is 914 related, if you take it apart will it ever be put back together? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Very interesting ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
It looks to be neither 914.111 nor 914.114.

The only picture i have seen of 914.111 before it was converted to a /8 showed it using the same flat front bumper it has now and it already had the double headlights.

All the features (and color) point to 914.114, however, i don't recall seeing any evidence that 114 ever had the fuel filler door of 111.

It would look more realistic if it were on jack stands. Then it could be put back together properly.

Considering that there are large gaps between known internal project numbers, i'd say that's a good possibility!
