Saves a lot of time & effort in cutting & re-welding, but I guess some guys just want to use their new (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) "toys"! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

The piece of shit was so rusted it couldn't hold itself up.

The unfortunate fate of so many 914s & other Pcars of that era. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Tom
How goes the 73? Have you made any headway? On mine, I know you're not a fan of them, but I put on my luggage rack since the truck lid was tweaked anyway. I'm quite happy with the results! I'll post pics soon.

Hey Brent,

I restrained myself from making a smart a## comment on straightening your rear (lid) post! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

You can always get another straight rear deck lid along the way as a clean back-up.
Just keep checking for leaks at the rack mounting holes, cuz the perlon carpet inside will hold the moisture against the trunk floor, then you know hat happens. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

They look okay on 914s & other sports cars - I just thing that they're "repetitively redundant" on 914s, what with 2 trunks F & R, & 16 CF of trunk space between them! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

No meaningful progress on the 914 (other than snaring some needed parts), as I've been buried with work, travel, home resto & working on the other cars.
This month, May & June I've been bringing my son's 88 Honda up to snuff to drive back to him at Ft. Drum NY, where he's posted with the 10th Mountain Div. now.

Attached Image
... +/- 150k miles, MAACO repaint 4/09 after prep (fresh after repaint in pic), prime & bodywork by my son & I, mechanical & paint chip, etc. refurb items now - after his ssiter "borrowed" it for a couple of years.

Looks like you did a good job Brent! ... and I see what you mean about the rear deck lid being tweaked,

Now you can carry a year's worth of luggage! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hmmm, I guess I never did post a pic of my wife's car here.

Here it is back in 2007, after I lowered it and threw some EMPI's on it .

Other than that, it's an all original, unmolested '71 1.7L ... my wife is the 2nd owner (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
