I never noticed that! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

So did Jeff do the conversion to Grasshopper, or a subsequent owner? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
... or were the plates transferred to another same vintage 74 914 (possible to do but not likely)? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

PS - since I like blue on 914s, maybe I should get a white 74 from the known range & do it up with Blue bumpers, wheels & stripes, then start the myth of "The Blueberry" - UV4 or whatever! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Chris,
Cool looking car, never seen the white interior...looks very clean.

Selling it? Another one in the works?
Dave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

THAT. IS. HOT.
Mine originally had white interior. Previous owner had it dyed black. Rare. I prefer the white.

My 75 2.0 restored. I'm second owner w 51000 miles. White interior with AC. Could be forsale?

Hey Chris - that is friggin' beautiful! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

Was yours one of the OE 75-76 White Leatherette/Brickweave interiors from the factory, or did you change it from another color interior?

... BTW - I know that you recovered the center console in white, since all were black from the factory on any interior color.

I would guess that a factory original L80E/White Interior would be be as rare as hens-teeth! I've seen it in on a few 914's back in the day, & in this Porsche+Audi ad on a blue 914, for those who've never seen a factory white interior, here ya go -

Chris, if you decide to sell this, Jeff Bowlsby is pondering selling his very nice Cremescicle - so maybe a promotion present to yourself this Fall!!?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Kids or no kids - it takes a brave soul to have a white interior & keep it looking that clean!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Mine was factory white until tje previous owner dyed it black. Idiot.

I prefer the white and wear a lot of all white myself. Looks very sharp.

Navy????

Yes - I too was my own DAPO & had a DAPO follow the whims of fashion, and had several respray color changes of my 73 L80E!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Mine was factory L80E with Beige interior as of it's 8/31/72 build date, then either the dealer or OO/PO changed it to Gold - which it was when I got it in 12/75 (2nd owner), & they maybe had either Sahara Beige or a Beige tinted primer under that. I changed that to L99K Copper Metallic in 8/76 (too much of the same color with Gold+Beige & paint had some issues), then to the current/last Anthracite/Dark Grey metallic in 5/80 (to rustore some rust bubbles starting & for CHP/Cop "pavement cammy").

She'll go back to L80E in my resto, and should come out looking similar to her "twin" owned by Brent in an earlier post. In fact, a pic of his is my laptop desktop background to keep that goal in mind.

Progression of my factory L80E 8/72 - 12/12 - using examples from other cars, since I don't have any old pix on hand....

Attached Image
^ 8/72 to 197? - Brent E's "twin"

.

Attached Image
^ 197? to 197? - Steve G's - never saw mine in this color, but I found that beige paint layer between the L80E & Gold recently.

.

Attached Image
^ 197? to 8/76 - Gold unknown owner - from evil-bay ad I think.

.

Attached Image
^ 8/76 to 5/80 - Brent E's again - yes, the "twins" crossed color paths twice in their lives!

.

Attached Image
^ Current Color since 5/80 - my early 73 914-2.0 "914 S" as she currently sits - still in Anthracite metallic.

.

Attached Image
^ Back to the Future Color in 20?? - Brent E's yet again - hopefully soon, for the third color path crossing once my resto is done!

Slow to not at all right now Brent! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

My wife's 88 Westy is the current project which is getting finished in the paint & body shop right now, then I'll do the interior & some exterior detailing as her anniversary present....a bit late for last Aug.! But at least we got her "new" restored `60 Avion T20 vintage travel trailer (sim. to Airstream) home in time for then!

Then I need to have the 325e reupholstered front seats, steering wheel recovered, new dash top (yes, they crack too) & doors seals. That little project was interrupted when my wife got hit with a fender bender in the Westy, which increased that project from just a refresh by me, into a full windows out repaint & reseal! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Oh, and then there's the ongoing restoration of our 1921 Craftsman Bungalow house....and the honey do list! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

And I do have to work some as well.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Hopefully I can get the 914 stripped down & into a paint/body shop for the strip to bare metal, body work & repaint sometime later next year ..... if we don't all die in 11 days! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

merry & Happy to you! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/santa_smiley.gif)
Did you ever get your steering wheel recovered Brent? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

DSW online in Dallas recovers them for about $185 IIRC (with or without the extra padding, so while yours is under wraps for the winter would be a good time to pull it & ship to them to look all purdy for next Spring/Summer!

Long gone. Still my favorite. Really like the look of the 75-76 models.

I normally do not like those black painted Fuchs you sometimes see. The originals have always been my favorites. But these painted wheels look really good.

Mine are 930 Turbo steel flares. A total of 8 of them. Two per corner. They were put on the car back in its racing days. I'm guessing 15-20 years ago. At this point they are "20 footers". The bondo is lifting and the paint is cracking. I'm working on a GT flare solution right now. The 930's look cool but are not cost effective to repair. In addition, they are lap welded, really crappy. Remember this was a race car...

Attached ImageAttached ImageI started with a stock '76. A no rust body with a decent repaint (but, as i found out, over a lot of parking lot dings) and some R rear fender damage probably from a blowout. Oh yeah,...and a VERY tired engine that finally just quit!

Since its not original and I'll never be able to afford a real Creamsicle, I've spent nearly a year and even MORE money, rebuilding, repainting, converting bumpers, etc. but I won't feel guilty about driving it for many miles, hopefully in a few more weeks,...or months...
