Creamsicle

Attached Image

The creamsicle and the bumblebee aren't really my thing. BUT, can you imagine a car company, ANY car company, making a creamsicle or bumblebee today?

Never, ever, ever will happen again. I think this is something that only could have happened in the 1970s -- along with disco and electing a peanut farmer as president of the US.

Actually, the latter generation of the 914, The Cayman (Cayman R) has a color scheme also. Green with the Cayman black lettering along the bottom sides.

Ivory. Not exactly white when you put it next to a white car. Factory color in '74.

Unless you repainted it to Ivory - then it's actually "Light Ivory" "Hellefenbein" (sp?) L80E/1110, which has been used since the 356s.

Ivory is also around but a bit more of a creamy off-white, but I don't know the paint code for it off-hand.

It looks to be the same L80E over Beige (tan) as mine once was, and will be again! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Nice one! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

Tom - How's the resto rolling along?

MY time & $$s have been tied up with the 88 Weswty's resto/refurb since most of last year. It should be done soon though. After I get it back from the body shop hopefully next week ot week after, then I have a few interior things to do as I get time. After it's done, I'll post some pix. ...she'll look like new with a few personalized additions! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm still getting needed parts for the 914's resto as time goes along. As Tod914 said in his Froggy FS post, it's getting harder to find new/NOS parts for 914s, so I'm trying to get my needed parts as I can do!

The wife's "new" vintage trailer, ongoing home resto, work & kids on far coast don't help any with 914 work flow either! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Light Ivory. I stand corrected. Original paint until 1993 and redone by a top notch body and paint shop in Portland. When I bought it many years ago it was sporting black PORSCHE stripes on the sides down low and a crest ornament on the front of the car. I had both removed for the repaint. You are correct, it is the tan interior. I've not seen another. Another incredibly lucky find was original Euro driving lights to replace the fog lamps. I have the original US spec parking light lenses but I like the Euro versions much better.

My ongoing project - a Creamsicle that was painted ALL white some 20 years ago. So far have returned the interior back to tan (DAPO had dyed the original black), replaced the entire FI system, replaced original engine after a spun rod bearing, refurbed/updated the front suspension with turbo tie rods, new bushings, etc, and now drive it every day rain or shine.

In addition to mine - Steve/Poorsce914 above (technically a 74 LE Cremescicle), Brent/bembry now in Alexandria/DC has a 73 2L in L80E/Beige, and a few others on here have the Light Ivory/Beige (tan) combo - but not many.

My early-73 2L was previously repainted sahara beige or that color tinted primer then gold before I got it in 12/75 (just 3 years old being first sold new 11/9/72) - which was probably the PO/OO request for a color not in stock back in Fall 72 when the 2.0 "914S" cars were new, scarce & hard to come by in particular colors.

I then proceeded to add to the ix - a respray of Copper Metallic in Aug 76 (Brent's above oddly enough had the same color before quinky-dentally! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ), then I did the anthracite/gunmetal grey metallic you see in my avatar in the last repaint in May `80. It was my DD 12/75 - 5/85 and paint colors were more of a fashion choice on 914s back then, but the last/current color was for a "pavement cammy" to save me from any more tickets with that essentially orange metallic (copper) I did before.

I did the resprays to deal with early rust bubble problems topside on mine, which had shown up within the 1st 3 years according to the first owner from whom I purchased it, explaining at least one of the tan or gold resprays by the dealer to address the rust while it was still under the 24k mi warranty! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Yours is a great looking example of Light Ivory & Beige BTW! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)
... your pix just added to my L80E reference file! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
