Uhm a whites only thread, I wonder if the black cars will take this sitting down?
I demand color equality!!!! actually there are some nice white ones out there, but the best is orange! would a creamsicle count as white? it has orange on it, and that makes it look cool! |

Actually, Babydoll is "supposed" to be silver. At least that's what I saw under the fuel tank.

Looks like painters look up teh wrong white pretty often. Here is another light ivory gone GP. #5 down also looks like they used VW's "Ivory" or another "off white" instead of true L80E Light Ivory! The question is always whether it was an owner's choice, or painter's/paint supplier's mistake? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Dan made the choice on his current resto, which is why he named the topic "...white 914s" & not Light Ivory or L80E 914s, but this is not the O&H Forum. As to white vs. black 914's, then you get into all those brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, silver & purple, etc. types wanting equal time! I vote for separate threads on each color so you can more easily find the color in which you're interested! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I would say for the most part it is the paint code translation by the different paint brands. Very hard to cross a paint code from an old laquer formula into whatever new 2 pack etc paints. My MGA is supposed to be Olde English White... looks more like beige or cream... but hey it is a 50 year old paint code. |

FRESH ( as of last night ) L80E Scotty - what brand(s) paint are you getting the best color match for L80E? ... & is it old school solvent based or the newer water based paints? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |
