Dad "on course" circa 1974--a couple of years before he sold his 72.

Dad and me test driving his old 72 shortly afer finding it in 2006--some 29 years later. We bought it back about a week after this picture was taken!

maybe someone could do a nice photoshop preview?
I'd say olympic blue L51P would be cool; it's a correct MY'74 colour and might look very nice

The Smurfcicle!

There ya go - "Blueberry Smurf" - my daughter was a little gal & enthralled when those Smurfs were out & first popular!

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of the Marathon Blue or Alaska Blue Metallics for a little extra "sparkle" - as long as we're being way-out silly! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

... but I do like the look of that white/blue 911 GT3 RS - closer to the 70-72 Adriatic Blue to my eyes though! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Dave, don't have too, but if someone really wants it, I would consider letting it go. I think I have too much on my plate right now.
Thanks

Jeff did the grasshopper. I am almost sure he told me he painted the rims with rattle can paint. He did a great job as they looked terrific.

Hey Chris - that is friggin' beautiful! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

Was yours one of the OE 75-76 White Leatherette/Brickweave interiors from the factory, or did you change it from another color interior?

... BTW - I know that you recovered the center console in white, since all were black from the factory on any interior color.

I would guess that a factory original L80E/White Interior would be be as rare as hens-teeth! I've seen it in on a few 914's back in the day, & in this Porsche+Audi ad on a blue 914, for those who've never seen a factory white interior, here ya go -

Attached Image

Chris, if you decide to sell this, Jeff Bowlsby is pondering selling his very nice Cremescicle - so maybe a promotion present to yourself this Fall!!?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Kids or no kids - it takes a brave soul to have a white interior & keep it looking that clean!

Drums66 - Did you go to HS in San Diego area? I note that you're about a year older, so Class of `69 (Great year! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) ) at Coronado HS or ???? HS? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
I was Uni HS `70. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Not sure what you mean by "... no kid's(tom t) ....", since I have 2 grown kids & my 914's interior is #31 Beige (#501 Beige Basketweave, #502 Beige Leatherette & #503 Dark Tan carpet) - so it will look like bembry's when I finish the resto - L80E/Beige. In fact, his was also the L96K Copper Metallic in a prior life, same as mine 76-80!

Actually, the 85 BMW 325e "family car" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) that I got when my 914 was whacked in 85, had the light Ivory interior, which was almost as bad raising the kids & their sticky hands over everything, but it wasn't as hot as black or brown!

Here's my "pre-kids" 914's interior - some upholstery repairs to do on the seat & door top bolsters, otherwise in VG-Excl shape! The DAPO/OO removed the Center Console, Fog Lights/Switch & Fuchs 2L wheels - all of which I gotten recently to add back into the car, as well as having CAMP914 recover the dash top, & DSW recover the steering wheel & shift-knob leather/leatherette, & the visors recovered or find some NOS ones.

Attached Image Attached Image

.

The #503 "Dark Tan" loop pile carpet in the pic below is more of a challenge - since it's NLA, & I cannot find an NOS drivers floor piece anywhere, let alone a NOS full set! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

.... anyone have one NOS or VG/Excl used - PM or email me plz! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Tom,
Nice interior (nicer than mine!). I have the tan corduroy inserts on my seats. Unfortunately my COA doesn't say anything about that. I'm not real happy with my COA, other than geting my engine number confirmed as original. I also had to track down parts thanks to DAPO. I scored a beautiful center console out of a really thrashed 914 in a yard in Witchita Falls, TX about 13 years ago. It was a VW yard, and the owner hated the 914, since nobody ever bought parts from it. I got the console for 10 or 15 bucks! Scored the steering wheel the same way, from a place in Phoenix who only wanted to deal with 911s, but had a couple old parts 914s out back. My car has been like a scavenger hunt (2.0 rims, console, steering wheel, original-style Balupunkt, tan backpad and uncut door panels, luggage rack, etc)!

The white interior is factory, except center console, I did have that done. She was a garage queen I found in Savannah GA a few years ago. She needed a paint so I did a resto on her, original acrylic light ivory white. Only thing lacking is the original FI, it has a single weber on her, but she runs great with it. I have only two things to complete on her. Can't figure out why fog lights don't work, no power to them. And the suspension bushings are a little squeky. Thanks for the replies!
