The Packwod NT is well attended by the Pcar bunch.....better than most NTs, if not all. The Britbox was the only Pcar (NARP, actually (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)) at the Wendover NT, whereas there will be 14 or so Pcar jocks at Packwood. It's a nice drive for he local Porsche guys, well worth while to day trip & watch the big dogs run on either day.

Very fun couple of days but boy do I suck when it comes driving 911s. I didn't get DFL but I may as well have. My first NT was worth it. Next year I will hopefully be in a car I am very familiar with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

Good job Britian. Very impressive driving beating out Snell.

Well setup Cayman S in AS should be one of the top cars. Surprised SCCA hasnt relegated them to SS.

You know something I dont? I dont see Brit signed up for FP nationals? Would love to see him go at the BMW again but truly I think it will take a faster car than his ballasted XP car to give that BMW hell.

I agree, there is not enough money in the till to build a Porsche of sufficient performance to play in FP & if so, time will continue to push the 2 valve motor to a dead end. This year the experiment/experience was to find out how far behind the big dogs the car is......the answer is about 1.5 sec per run. That is a bunch to make up. Brit has been blown out by big HP cars, the handles are there as is his driving but when your up against cars with twice the HP you start out at a disadvantage. Prolly gonna work on that.

Ah, but something else you don't see that will happen is Greg Fordahl is driving Leeds 914 in FP (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) . Finally a driver that can make that car work its magic. Leeds and Jodi are good but Greg is amazing in that car. Hope he gets a little seat time before this event.

Leeeds told me that his car is not handling well. The new radial tires are causing a push. He said the tires are more heat sensetive then the old bias R35 compound and the rears get hot & the fronts don't.....which seems like a good theory. To hear him tell it, Jodi called Greg after driving the thing and wanted to know how to cure it....then it broke & we got no cure....assuming there was one.

To my eyeball, I suggested a scrub radius problem....the front wheels are wide and I assumed a standard 5 inch backspace. I did run into one fella that understood that.....the owner of the Stagnaro CP Mustang. He's gone thru 2-3 front ends to get closer to 0 scrub.....and those are huge fronts...12 or 13 inch, me thinks. I took one look at the shallow positive offset of those wheels & went to talk to him. No push there and that thing is FAST...for a CA car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I think Brit has found a solution to get wide tires up front with no scrub problems.....we'll see.

Your theory makes perfect sense to me JP. I just hope Greg has time to look into it before Nationals. Leeds has been complaining a lot lately and I don't really get it. He sure isn't putting down the times he was three or four years ago. Dunno what the cause is but I have always loved watching Greg drive his car. Greg just makes that 914 dance.

Have you seen Toby drive? At wide open course in a FP BMW that reportedly only makes 250 RWHP he was less than a second off XP National Class 400 RWHP Lotus. He was second place car in XP at FP weight at San Diego NT as well. While it was only reported that the B driver beat Brit by 3 seconds in FP it wasnt reported that Toby in same FP car beat Brit by over 5 seconds - he was just running the FP car in XP. In my years of AX he is one of the fastest AX'ers I have seen. Very impressive driver.

Not saying a well setup FP 914 couldnt beat him but I wouldnt underestimate that BMW with Toby at the wheel. There are lots of benchmark cars up at Packwood. The ASP GT2, CP Mustang, and CSP miata that were all flattened by him in San Diego or El Toro by a couple seconds.

Toby is certainly one of the best drivers I have seen. Just take a look at some of his incar video. He is on a different level than some of us mere mortals.

Well, the GT2 was beat by the GT3 that is one of our local guys who is regulary beat by Greg when he drives the 914. I believe Greg and Toby may be on an even playing field where, if the equipement holds, it really just depends on who is more on that day.

Assuming everyone breought their A game to the Nats in 2009;

Zust-XP: 110.2-W
Maier-CP: 111.8-W
Larsson-FP: 113.6-2nd

Yes, good markers. Zust beat Larsson by a lesser amount (2.4 sec) at the SD NT.
