Unfortunately, due to lack of time and space, I have to sell my creamsicle. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Asking $16.5k, but I'd really like it to go to a good home. Here are the details:

Wow, I'm surprised by the lack of response! This is a really great car.

Price dropped to $14,800.

This LE market is a very strange one. Can anyone educate me on how the inclusion of $5.00 of orange paint makes a car double in value. Yes I know there were only 1,000 +-made, but in the history of automobiles is there any other make or model out there that just by adding a pinstrip doubles or triples a particular models value? At least with other special editions you get a hemi or a turbo or a supercharger or something. As far as I now there are no tweeks whatsoever to the 914's engine or susp. Really I am not trying to be a jerk, just need/want to know. I have 8+ 914's 4-6-and V8's and love them, but just don't get the LE. Help..

I won't hijack Grosbards FS listing, but will briefly respond. If you have further interest or questions, post them in the main garage forum. Grosbards car is especially unique if you are aware of the particulars of the LE cars.

There are some misconceptions in your posted questions. LEs are not double the cost of a comparable quality 914, and an LE car has more than just contrasting trim color. Grosbards 914 LE appears to be in very good condition, a non-LE in similar condition would be close to his asking price you have to admit, an LE just has a slight premium because of its rarity. Fortunate for buyers, all 914 values as collector cars are getting hurt badly in the economic conditions we are in right now. Grosbards car would easily have been in the low-$20Ks just a year or two ago.

An LE has not only the unique paint conbination, but also special-issue equipment and other features. For 9174 it was the way to get a fully-optioned 914 at a bargain price. LEs don't have factory turbos or other exotic equipment, but they have unique features that some find interesting. There is more here:

Now that I have one myself, I've got to tell you it is a special car. You can't drive the thing without people looking at it and smiling. Everywhere I've gone, folks just walk up and talk to you about it. Its a happy machine

I know the car from when it was in Colorado, it's really a fantastic example! When my Boxster sells, you will get call if it's still available.

Wow, that is an attractive price for a unique 914 LE.

Unfortunately, timing is everything and I'm not in a position to buy right now, having just bought a new house with a large garage to store my current stable of Porsches. Otherwise, I would very interested.

I own your LE's big brother, Dave's Tangerine 914-6 and I can vouch for the quality of restoration work Dave performed.

I know you are aware of it, but others may not know your LE won it's class at Parade the one or two years it was entered in the concours in the mid 1990's. There is a photo of the car in the 1993 or 1994 Panorama Parade edition.

Although, it was restored many years ago, it still looks pretty good in the photos.

Good luck with the sale.

More pix. By the way, I got all these pix from the former owner. He's a great guy. I'd estimate the pix are from 2007. I believe the car hasn't been used much at all since then:

Thanks for the additional pics! I am a little surprised there is an oil cooler on top of the transmission, which normally indicates there has something been done with the engine exept of only changing the carbs. Are you sure the car still has its original engine?

Based on the previous owner's original post on 914club:

http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?s=&a...t&p=1023645

I think it's the original engine (but I'm not positive).

Car would sell better here in CA. Not many buyers in NorthEast winter time. Contact by PM if you want to get it out here and sold.

I am the former owner/restorer and it is the original, numbers-matching engine. It has been rebuilt (by me). THe cooler was added when we were doing extensive time-trialing with PCA in Corpus Christi, TX.

Fergie, I'd be honored if you were to own my former 914 creamsicle! P.S. it is the original, numbers-matching engine.

I wish... Just bought a 4 seater, no bus to school for my kiddos.
