Carbs can be frusterating to get right. I have been tuning with mine now for about a year. Its easy to get them "drivable" but it takes a long time for a noob (and I started knowing zero) to get them perfect. The good news, though, is that once you understand the concept, the actual mechanics are simple - and the tuning is a lot of trial and error.

Last night I rejetted my carbs (again - idles back down to 55, mains up to 135), and tuned and balanced them in the space of about an hour or so. Now I will drive them for a week or so and see if I like this tune. I thought my car would love my idles at 60, but instead I got a ton of popping and a craptastic idle, so I put them back down and bumped my mains to add a little more fuel at transition (about 3000 rpm or so).

Bill, do you know what carbs you are using, when they were last rebuilt and how they are jetted? Have you checked them for leaks at all? This info may be in your OP, but I don't remember.

Carbs. Simple in theory - but a total bitch to get perfect.

I know you believe you got screwed by the shop. We have all been there at one point or another. The best you can do is find another shop and never look back. Of course let everyone know of your experience with the former shop.

We all have the ability to take our business elsewhere and I had had to do that in the past. Good luck and don't let that sour your opinion of these great cars.
