Ring! Ring!
I awoke this morning, Thursday, my only day off of the seven, to the sound of the telephone ringing. It was Mark, of 914Rubber.com fame (Mikey914). He had heard my plea for an early 1.7 liter throttle body gasket and somehow produced one. Or rather, he had produced many just like it but this one was mine. Better yet, he was ready to hook up and hand it over to me. A half-hour later we're standing around looking at my orange 914, my hands full of magic objects and tears steaming down my cheeks: a new clutch lever pulley, a throttle body gasket, and a perfectly round black shift knob with the correct shift pattern inlaid under a transparent crown. Had there been an aluminum suitcase full of money and a Swedish bride thrown into the deal I couldn't have been more pleased. Portland. It's a grand town. And Mark? A powerful wizard with a gentle disposition. I thought everyone should know what a pleasure it was doing business with him. -marcus |
