Would love to be able to find the engine that came with my 1970 914/6. The original engine number is 6404506. Thank you very much.

@davep
Dave I would be interested in paying for that info on my six if possible. Can you get verification on anything else? Color code, trans serial #? ect?

Bernard, type 901/36 is a European version of the 914/6 engine and matches the serial 64006xx. I cannot tell you more than that without the full serial #. Do you have just the engine crankcase? It does not have significant value as a crankcase except to the owner of the car it was originally installed in. The original car can be determined at a cost.

Hello David,

A Flat-Six-Powered 1971 Porsche 914 on BaT says it has the engine from an original 914-6. Number is: 9414131 per photo # 128. I thought all 914-6 cases begin with the numbers 64?

I have 914-6 #41 30th car off the line. It came with engine number 640.4016 Delivered in CA on Jan 4th 1970

I have found cases within 11 units from the one that it came with. Still looking.

Looking on here is like a lotto scratcher. I have not looked in several years.

Well, my original 914-6 Engen case for #41 the 30 car off assembly line was found by Glenn Stazak who messaged me that Henry at Supertec Performance had my case. I have been looking for this case since 2007—Henry is Beed blasting it and delivering it to me. It was set up for a 2.5 SS same as the 69 S Eng. that was in the car when I bought it.
My buddy Alan S. says I found the golden ticket! I will not put it in my car but use it as a table in office just in case, on the case.

I guess you can never give up on looking.

Best Bob B Burton

A list of cases that Henry still has for 914-6

914-6

914-6 blank
901/38 640 5596 90mm
901/38 6405156

Message to me from Glenn:

Bob,

I believe Henry has your original engine type 901/38 number 6404016
list of cases

Regards,
Glenn Stazak

In life timing is everything. I am really lucky in this regard. If Glenn did not get in touch with me, I may never have got this case.

Best Bob B
