So, I picked up a set of 944 seat belts for my 71 914 for free!

I am also aware the the early car were not setup to accept the retractor type belts.

In my case, my car has been retro-fitted with the later style back pad and seats.

I think I can make these seat belts work with a little modification to the back pad, belt/pin and maybe some massaging of the firewall.

Has anyone done this same mod to their 70-71 and do you have any pictues and or dimensions to share?

I am making the assumption that these belts are designed to be mounted on the firewall and not the floor or longs area. Am I correct?

Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The firewall was changed to accept the inertial reel belts. They won't install nicely on a stock early firewall. Best solution.... weld in late model seat belt recesses. I have a set, if you're interested.
