Automatic ZF4HP22 HL transmission from a Carrera II.
Anyone tried to put one in a 914?
Mate it to a V8?

Get a transaxle from a 1999-2002 VW Passat (or Audi for more $$$) I think Andrew has one on his wish list. It is about the same size and configuration as the 914 tranny. You just have to figure out the Transmission ECU I/O but it can be done and you can fab steering wheel paddels.

That's a very complex transmission that's got a fair amount of electronics to sort, it would be tough.
