I asked this question on the Automotive Forums and no one seems to want to help, but I know I can count on you guys
I have a 1998 K1500 Silverado, Today I noticed I have no rear brake lights, the 3rd brake light is working as is all the other lights, 4 ways turn, etc.. I removed the rear lens and tested at the plug and I have no power there or at the connector under the rear of the truck, I looked for the brake light switch but didn't see it (my 1990 was very visable) Any Ideas?? Find some elecrtical diagrams and follow the wires. Find the fuse(s) for the taillights and see if they have power.
Do any light's work? turn, brake, parking |

Yuppers ...like I said All the lights work except the 2 brake lights even the 3rd brake light works,
All the fuses have been checked and double checked, all the wiring looks good from front to rear..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

You say the fuse is good but is the fuse getting power?
How about taking the brakelight housing out and check to see if the wires comeing into the back of the housing have power. Does the turn signal and the brake light use the same fillament or different fillaments? I'm really just curious b'c this doen't make all that much difference with your problem that I can think of at this time. |

Odd. Bulbs burn out. Fuses dislodge or burn out. Wiring does not change unless physically injured or burned. If the thrid light is working, it obviously distal to that. I would think a connection or in-line fuse is the problem. What else would cause the change?
However, since you are on the 914 forum, obviously the answer is to run a wire from the thrid brake light to the rear lights. L. McC |

It turned out to be a big 30A fuse out in a relay box under the hood. who knew (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |
