Last fall I built a new woodbox/gas tank for the rear of my motorhome. The old one was falling apart and the gas tank that was init only held 8 gal. So I built one out of Stainless and made the gas tank portion a bit bigger (now 44 gal). This would give me 32 gal in the front tank, 22 gal in the middle and 44 gal at the rear.
The front and middle tanks are tied together with a selector switch in the cockpit. What i'm looking for are ideas on how to tie the rear tank into the fuel system? It previously was only hooked up to the generator. I thought about hooking it into the front tank and when it runs dry, pump from the rear to fill the front, while driving on the middle tank. This would still leave me about 12 gal in the rear to run the generator when stopped. I still have to mount the fuel gauge into the rear tank. The tanks are feeding a 440 powertrain and I get about 9 mpg. Ideas? |
