I need to replace my muffler on my 76 914 2L. It has a near new cat and passed smog excellently. Any suggestions on a replacement system or muffler? It's a stock 2L and I plan to keep it that way for now. Thanks for any suggestions. John VS

Aren't the 75-76 mufflers NLA? If so, you will probably have to have a muffler shopweld up a new final muffler and tail pipe for you, unless you can find someone with some old stock.

I have a 76, but I switched to 2.0L SS HE's long ago.

I have a 75 1.8l and the options are pretty slim unless you want to change out the HE's to the older style. You can get the Bursch "Quiet" Street system...bolts right up. I'm guessing that instead of using the cat bypass piece from them you could put the original cat in. You actually purchase it separately anyhow.

The "quiet" muffler they have isn't loud at all.
