Dave,

Very sorry for your loss, it's a beautiful car.

I live up in Camarillo, Ventura County and will keep an eye out. I've also emailed
other motor-heads I know in the area, including AndyS in Canyon Country.

Please let us know if anything develops on your case, I fear it will become a parts car.

Best,
Terry

I just ran across this on a motorcycle forum. Not suggesting this is relevant to your situation, but you never know.

http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/-depth/05/05/11...-smuggling-ring

I also linked to this thread on one of my hot rod forums, I suggest others do the same. Spreading the word among the whole car community has a better chance of stopping this kind of shit

This situation totally sucks. Hoping it is spotted soon, or is ditched out of gas. The important thing is getting it back in one piece.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

There is an easy mod to prevent this from happening to any one else, unless the creaps have a flat bed - a hidden kill switch. I intalled on one mine a few years ago by placing an in-line switch on one of the wires running to the tach. (don't remember exactly which one, but it wasn't the ground or the lights - so there can't be that many left.) It will crank but not turn over. The toggel switch, extra wire and a couple of connectors probably cost $5.00 max but the piece of mind was priceless.

Again, best of luck for a good outcome.

Well, it has been over 72 hours and nothing.......
More than likely out of the country or parted by now.
In talking to a few of my buds in the hot rod bus
there seams to be a group working the so cal area
for the last year or so . Looking back there was a red ford
suv following me after taking a very long look at all sides
of the car when I was on the 210 fwy coming thru Fontana

Maybe it was them who got it.

I was in Big bear yesterday and took a drive around the lake
looking but no luck. Probably in a container whole or in parts
on it way to to who knows where.

Thanks again for all of your help and support

Dave

I agree.

Don't give up!

Try to spread the word as much as you can.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope it is recovered soon.

I'm thinking of making my DME relay more accessible so I can take it with me. I remember that SirAndy's car was all apart when they attempted to steal it, and they ended up dumping it (after tearing up the dash).

It's not cheap but painless has a remote control battery disconnect. I bought one for one of my dunebuggies and put it in the battery box with the battery with a locking lid.

What a violation and a nightmare!!! I'm so sorry to hear this. Keep looking on craigslist if all of a sudden someone we all don't know pops up selling (heaven forbid) 914 parts.....worse case.

I've got my eyes peeled around Huntington Beach and Newport Beach for you.

Good luck !!!

Dave, are there any parts on that car that are specifically unique to it? I figure a craigslist wtb add couldn't hurt for a specific part.. or maybe a wtb add for a "dent free" marathon blue front trunk lid would bring up a hit on craigslist? There can't be many other perfect trunk lids in marathon blue laying around, and who knows, maybe the crims are looking to sell parts now...

My wife was outside the Presidential Palace protesting the Marcos Regime when he resigned and left for Hawaii. The corruption was pretty bad she says and after he left, instead of the corruption being all the way to the top it is now closer to the bottom. I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone like this Bigcas guy could for a price, march just about anything through RP Customs.
I don't think most 914's are valuable enough to be included in this type of smuggling ring.
I am going to spring for LoJack on my cars... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Is there anything unique on the car that if sold would clearly identify as coming from your car? Do you have a picture of a part on your car with a serial number? Did your stereo owner's manual have the serial printed on it (if you see a similar stereo on craigslist you could identify it that way).

Just a thought, I would be PO'd and looking for unique ways to find the car now. Good luck.

Nothing really unique about just a very good build attn to detail the only thing I
can think of is the antenna for the alarm is above the inside rear view .
and the seats have valure inserts not basket weave.
