I came across some grommets and rubber pieces today, I swear I have seen them all before, But cant say for sure what each is. First person to guess all correctly gets a free USED brake like switch! OOooOoo AAaaahhHh.

Thanks for the help!

So Bruce are you saying you KNOW the ID and application of all the pictured parts or that you are unsure of some of them?
I think I know EVERY piece of rubber used on a /4 having done an ground up resto but some of those are unfamiliar to me....
Could they have come from a /6?

I think B is the grommet for the head temp sensor? Either that, or for the throttle cable where it goes through the engine tin.

I'm pretty sure G is for the reverse light switch in the trans.

I think C goes on the rear vertical engine tin; possibly for the battery + cable. I know I've dealt with that part before, I can remember removing it from.... something.

D looks somewhat like the boot for the side marker lights.

E and F seem familiar, but I can't really place them. I'm a bit surprised not to see the fuel line grommets, though.

I don't recognize the rest. I'd love to hear where they go (if they are 914 parts).

J is the newer starter wire boot I think.
E looks too small to be for the funnel tubes through the engine shelf, I was thinking wiper shaft grommet.

How about making this a classic thread when all pieces are identified ?? Maybe start a gromment library ?? We all need id on parts from time to time. My $.02...

B is a grommet on the passenger side under the gas tank by the spare tire. I have no idea what it's purpose is

E looks like the battery cable grommet through the tin for 914/6

H are alternator wire boots for a 914/6

G is the reverse light boot

Where can one buy grommets? I would love to repolace them all as I oput my '72 back together. Has anyone made a list with Porsche part numbers?

Bruce - are you thinking of putting a complete as possible set together for sale?!?!?!
