When I reinstalled my Alternator I purchased a new belt. I have put all of the shims in that I have and the belt pulls the alt/fan down and the fan scrapes the housing when I tighten the pully. I know this is wrong!

What I need to know is: If I add more shims will this solve my problem? OR is it something else?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Jeff

OK, OK, I know now why no one responded!! I had put the rebuild alt onto the motor and I didn't check to see that the people who rebuilt it only put two of the nuts on that hold it to the housing! Well. the rest were in a small bag at the bottom of the box!! Duhhhh (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

So, now it is comming together nicely! I have the carbs on, and the engine lid on so now all that is left is to clean everything and install it!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

I hope it runs!! I will finish it this weekend!!
