My driver's side seat adjustment pull handle is snapped off. I see that you can get new ones online, but I cannot figure out how to get the broken stump off. Where are the screws? Do you have to take the seat out or something?
Also, what the heck are the wires coming out of the seat cushions - do these things have heated seats? Thanks, Andrew |

Definitely heated seats with vibration. Actually they're part of the seat belt/ignition lock thing, as I recall.
Do you mean the loop shaped handle broke off? If yes, it appears to be held in place with two rivets. As I recall the seat slides out by sliding it all the way forward off the sub frame. |

seats are wired to ignition relay. if you are in the seat w.o a seatbelt, the car wont start. pretty gay in my opinion. iirc, you just connect the 2 yellow wires under the pass seat to bypass that silly circuit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
seat: there is a catch on the rail. slide seat all the way forward, 1/2 a notch back and on the outer rail inside there is a springy tab that needs to be pushed up to release seat completely |

once the seat is out, the easiest is to just replace the complete rail on that side with a good one that still has a handle.
the rail is bolted to the seat with 2 allen screws ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) Andy PS: the seat-heater *option* was rare. very, very rare ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

You have to drill out the rivets to install the replacement handle.
As for the handle, I used my old broken handle to make a template, then I plasma cut the shape from some 10 ga. steel, filed them somewhat, then dipped the handle part in plastisol. After they dried, I installed them and they are much like new. (Except my new ones should be much more durable than the pot-metal originals) |

You shoud sell t hose plasma-cut handles! If not, where can you get a nice replacement that's not pot-metal.
BTW I just broke mine off (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) that's what I get for trying to do work before a GTG |

Auto Atlanta sells replacement adjuster loops for $15.
I think they are made of a heavy duty black nylon. --- bill |

I got mine from Tweeks... pretty good, but nylon. I also have a spare seat rail with oem handle if somebody needs one to maintain the concourse interior (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You remove the old ones by drilling out the rivets.
I know of three ways to install new ones. 1- Replace the whole slider with a new (or good used) one. 2- Fab your own or pester someone who makes parts to make you one. 3- Get the nylon ones, drill the mounting holes in them, install screws, invent new curse words as the plastic POS breaks the fourth time you use it.... I guess I'm not a fan of the plastic ones, huh? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I'd opt for #2, except for my Bitchin' Employee Discount that makes #1 a viable option. Except I'm too lazy, so I just left it with the broken POS plastic one in there. --DD |
