ive got these strange wheels on my parts car, and i wanted to take off them, because i want to sell them, so when i was trying to fit the sockets to them, the actuall socket woulndt fit around the bolt, because the bolt was large, but i couldnt even get a larger socket in because it has to go into a hole where the lug bolt is....
now i got one wheel off, because it had normal bolts, but the other three, were silver or chrome...are they caps? if they are, how do i get them off? i think they are the enkei wheels... heres a picture any ideas? Attached image(s) |

yep....Enkies....I just bought a set a few weeks ago.....a few local cars are running them.
you might have to get a thin-wall 19mm socket (or a 3/4" thin-wall socket) |

I just re-read your post....good chance someone put some caps over the stock bolts, no way to know until you take a better look at them.....

Mike,
Since you have a set of Enkies, can you tell me the largest tires taht can be mounted and still fit under a non-flared car? Do you know what the rim width the back spacing are? |

I have 205/60's on mine, but I did get some rubbing on the fender on the drivers side so I pulled out the fender a little by hand (grabbed the fender and gave it a good yank a few times)
You might get away with 195's on a bone stock fender, of course it's a case by case deal since these cars vary so much. The offset is not exactly as the stock rims, they are in between the stock and standard bug rims. |

Thanks Mike.
I've always like the looks of these wheels and was curious if my 205's would fit if I bought a set. Your answers are greatly appreciated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) |

There may be more but I have seen two types of caps.
One has a broader top with a very squared off lip/ledge. I just bought a set of these off ebay and they come with a special tool to remove them. I also have a set of black caps that are different. Those don't have a tool and there isn't really anything to grab on them with even with any kind of tool. For those I just had to have really dry fingers and grab them. If you are lucky, you have the ones with the lip and you can make some sort of tool. To catch the ledge and then you simply pull (fairly hard because those things really grab). The trick to getting them off when they don't come off very easy is you do need to grab them fairly evenly on both sides with the tool or your fingers. If you don't, you will never get them off and you will actually invent new curse words. If you don't want to keep them, you can always drill into them since the plastic is domed and is much softer than the steel nut. You will know when you pass through the plastic. If you go this route, you may want to drill a pair of holes so you stick some sort of bent wire into the holes and then pull them off. Hope that helps. --- bill (pictures follow) Attached image(s) |
