Hello everyone,
I'm new to this board but I've had 914 for at least 15 years now and have been working on them professionally since 1993 or so. I run a small one man shop in the SF bay area and have lots of used parts available (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) and we (I) work on 914s quite a lot. I have gained lots of knowelege over the years and will attempt to contribute to this board and if you need any parts PM or e-mail me and I'll see what I can do. Thanks, Bill (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

Welcome Bill (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif) We need all the pro help we can get. Lots and lots of misinformation being spewed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) around the web about 914's. Having people on this BBS that actually WORK on 914's is a great help.

Welcome! Anybody who can make a decent living from us cheap and borderline insane 914 clowns is OK in my book!
Do you do any autocross or race kind of stuff, or mainly street? |

If you're in West Oakland, you have to know about EASY. I'm on the same street, Harlan, but on the other side of the freeway. Roughly 34th and Peralta. 3423 Harlan Street. I work on primarily street cars but I have an insane machinist(the good kind of insane!) who builds motors for me and he campains an ugly, slant nose, blueish 914 that is very competitive in the local auto Xs.

If it's the car I think it is, you guys ran at last weekends auto-x at Candlestick, correct? You or someone also owns a flared black 914 with Western mags on it???

alright ...
i stopped by Bill's Garage yesterday and met him and one of his mechanics (sorry, forgot the name (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) ). Nice shop and Bill turns out to be a very nice guy and unlike others (me, for instance) he seems to know what he is talking about! even offered me a front-hood for free to prove me wrong. i will probably take you up on that one! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) i can't believe his place is only 5 blocks from where i live. i have driven past it at least 20 times in the last 3 years, never noticed any 914s. crazy, huh? welcome to the club! another member dedicated to keeping them on the road ... speaking of being wrong, have you checked your steering wheel nut to see that it is indeed a 27mm?
I want you to do that cause I want you to send me a case of Red Tail Ale!!!! |

Thanks for the kind words Andy. Good to meet you too. Nate is my assistant. You guys might see him at the autoX, he pits and sometimes drives the car.
BTW most 911 and 914 steering wheel nuts are 27 mm but I removed a 22 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) the other day so you may still have a chance on that bet. and that hood is waiting for you. After further consideration you could get your scheme to work but you'll need a pretty fancy duct work under the hood to get the air out of there. |
