I bringing my car to the paint shop on Monday and I would like to work on refinishing my targa top while the car is gone. Problem is, I want to leave a top on the car while it is being painted. Does anyone in the bay area have a loaner top I could borrow? Condition does not matter as long as it fits and latches reasonably well. I'll be out of town until Sunday evening but can pick it up on my way back from Tahoe. I would really like to get something on the car for Monday.

I am also looking to borrow a random orbit sander (electric) to help me prep my top for paint. Advice on how to use it is also welcome. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I promise to give both the top and the sander back when I am done. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

What I really need is the top. I can come up with the rest one way or another.

I have an extra orbital sander you can use. You can also use my top if you still need one. I live in Santa Cruz but work in San Jose (N. First St., 237, Tasman). If you are close you can pick up the sander at my work, and the top if still needed, or work out another arrangement. My top needs refinishing, badly. I am interested in how you are doing yours.

Thanks guys - I got Mike's top from him today. It is going to work great. Thanks for all the other offers, you guys are awesome.

I still do need the sander. Let me see if I can come up with one this weekend, if I can't I will PM you guys (Jeff and Britain).

My top was already fairly smooth and painted, but it was chipping. I am going to strip off the paint that is there (bad adhesion) and have it shot with bumper paint or something similar at a shop. I was originally going to rattle can it but after all the work stripping it I think I want a professional finish.
