at high rpm say above 4000+ our stock 914s oil pressure will bypass the stock oil cooler. so is this the universal oil temp problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gunner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bs.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mrs.K.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/calvin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stones.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hide.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/birthday3.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dead horse.gif)

This may be why a higher spring rate is sold for the bypass/relief valves.

Additionally for me, this fixed the 30mm h.v. oil pump from bypassing the cooler
I also shimmed mine 0.40. Runs cool as a cucumber...
