A rather uneventful two day trip to HPH and back to Utah. 11 hours each way towing a trailer and a loaded trailer. We picked up the tub at HPH and hit I-80.

Thanks Brad! Let me know the total on the antenna (don't forget). I'm hoping to have the metal worke done by the end of the week.

As you can see it took a good hit in the front corner. Nothing structural. We checked over all the seams etc. I have another fender loaded with factory GT Flares to replace this area. Tomorrow I'll cut this off. You can just make out the cut lines behind the wheel well and in between the turn signal bucket and the headlight bucket. I was using the GT bumper and valance for referrence installing the flare on the passengers side.

Here's the flare going on the passengers side. These are but welded on. This is the initial mount and fitment stage. I scribe a line and remove the flare and cut away...

Then you fill in the gaps. Tomorrow I'll do the other side. I'll probably get the rear on and the front damaged area off. I'll need to pull and work that corner so it will probably be the next day before the fender goes on.

Sorry, but I gotta ask..........what's up with that front flare?? It looks like it was cut short at the bottom or welded too high or something? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Are they Auto Atalnta flares? The rear one looks like my AA flares. I've yet to find a way to make them fit to my liking. Thanks for pics and god speed with the body work!

that's what i thought too, looks kinda odd. maybe it's just the angle in the pic ...

Sharp eyes guys... These are factory flares (not AA) that were on a race tub. They cut them off to install a wider body kit. These were on a Black Forest sponsored 914-6 in San Diego. The welding work was some of the finest I've ever seen... it looked factory. That was the only flare they cut like that and I'll need to make some metal extensions to finish it off. Sound like fun?

That can't be exactly acurate...

I got my flares in 1992 at Stoddard. They are factory flares and had Porsche Part numbers on them all.

Mine where not like that and where complete all the way down.

My guess is whoever cut them off the donor car cut them that way.

That's what I said... it was the only flare they cut that way thankfully. It wasn't clear but I meant "they" being those who cut the flares off the car not the "factory"

I wound up cutting up the crappy GT glass rockers they sent me and cutting up a set of steel rockers and spending two weekends making these... I was really disappointed in most of the fiberglass stuff I have purchased. I usually wind up redo-ing it myself and using the junk they sell me as a model or a base to work from.

Kind of a combination of the two... They look good though.

I feel your pain...

Take a look at the second shot from the top. Check out all the work needed on the Rennspeed bumper. Cut, notched. The valance was the same... both sides. The bumper came with two left mounts fiberglassed into it also.

The GT rockers they sent are equally as bad. The guy I got the flares from sent me two steel rocker ends. They were the back portion. I still don't know what to do with them. Seems like a lot of work to fabricate the entire set out of steel when I have glass ones to work with.

We'll see how it turns out. I've been trying to get the front end pulled out... these little uni-body tubs are tougher than hell. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)
