Hi all...here's my stupid question of the day...
I was adjusting my front wheel bearings today and realized that on the drivers side, the adjuster had to be turned counter clockwise to TIGHTEN.
Is that correct? Or is it possible for the adjuster to be installed upside down?
Car is a 1974 2.0 liter.
Thanks,
Mike

If you install a clockwise threaded stud "upside down" it's still threaded clockwise.

I don't think i ever dealt with a front spindle that had reverse threads ...

That's what I was thinking. I guess I was thinking that the adjuster could be removed and turned around and reinstalled.
Hmmm...wonder what I've got going on here...

Further to this...I found a reciept for some bearings purchased by the P.O.
They are SKF BR8 and SKF BR1.
I may have the wrong bearings in there...
Does anyone know of a cross reference?

I know the BR 1 is right, and it's pretty likely the BR 8 is, too. Maybe you could google it and find out .......................

Think of which way the nut would go if the wheel turned it. Betcha it's in the tighten direction on both sides.

Yes, one of them is reverse threaded. That is by design.

914/4 is like that. My 914/6 spindles are right hand thread both sides. Kinda hard to see how the wheel could unscrew it either way, unless the tab breaks off the tab washer.
