This thread is to document the restoration of the newest member of my family. After my 1973 914 2.0L was totaled a month ago I was heartbroken, but out of the ashes(and insurance money) rose Calypso.
She is a 1974 2.0L. It is not fully loaded(no sways, chrome bumpers, or aluminum sills) but is COMPLETELY original. It has a few blemishes that I have found so far, and certainly I will find more as i get to know her better. Attached image(s) |

Take the money and run. But if you do, I'll wager it's a car you'll always wish you had back.

Take the money and run. But if you do, I'll wager it's a car you'll always wish you had back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) with the latter, keep it, enjoy it, clean it up, then if you must - sell it later for an over $20k offer! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) BTW - Motorola made radios for both Porsche/Porsche+Audi & VW of America (VoA's VPC div.) for installation by dealers in their cars here. Not bad radios in fact, and in some cases better than some Blau's. I have the original Motorola made AM/FM/8-Track for mine, which will go back into mine with my resto.... So your Motorola could be originally installed by the dealer at the time of purchase, even if not factory installed. IMHO that IS original (sorry Pat). |
