One question, but can we have some "Rules" for the classifeds?
Like... (this is a question here) Post individual items in groups in separate topics. or Post all of your stuff in one topic Then Only 2 bumps (ie bringing your topic to the top of the page) Then leave it alone. and possibly Check your Topics every month, delete if neccisary(sp?) No spaming the Classifieds. Nigerian emailers will be found and persecuted or castrated, upon the recipients request. Ext ext.. Rules are good, they help keep everything stable and smooth. This is just some suggestions, this is not the official rules of the BBS. Andrew |

Rules? Minimum rules, like the rest of the BBS. The admins *really* don't want to be babysitters. Most of us have full-time jobs, and none of us get paid (or want) to micromanage the forums.
Rules for the Classifieds haven't changed. No spamming from Nigerians, Type-at-Home Schemes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/type.gif) , and other crap like that. Please confine eBay ads to the proper category so we don't have to move them for you. Bump to your hearts content (for now)... we'll see how it goes. I even added a new smiley just for that today. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_bump.gif) Ads without action expire within the timeframe listed. So, no need to go in and delete. We still ask users to manage their own ads if they post a laundry list of stuff. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I've seen some year-old threads that still get hits on the PP BBS. And because a couple of people asked for it... a non-car stuff category. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) We'll see how that goes, too. This should be SO much easier to manage than the old style. You can add multiple full-sized pictures, or multiple posts to your ad. Smilies will work, too. What gives? It won't let me post any ads. Whenever I try to submit an ad, a little message pops up and says that it failed to load. Actually the same thing happens when I try to post a picture in any posts.
Any suggestions/advice. By the way I have a mac |

QUOTE(jgiroux67 @ Jul 13 2004, 07:58 PM) Any suggestions/advice. By the way I have a mac make sure the file size is no bigger than 300kb. also, we only allow .jpg and .gif files for upload. on a MAC, make sure you add the right extension to the file name, otherwise the BBS won't know the filetype. make the pics 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 and save them with "medium" compression (5-JPG) and 72 DPI ... no reason why it shouldn't work. Go to the 914Club Faq it will explain how to correctly attach or link photos with your posts. The two yahoos above only gave you part of the story.
Andy-SirAndy-may have nailed it with the extensions. I always make my MAC place an extension on files so they are compatible with my other computers. |
