I suppose I can call the dealer tomorrow but thought someone might have gone down this road. Are the seatbelts available new or are they NLA?

PE Parts was doing rebuilds on them at one point, not sure if they still are. http://www.peparts.com/StoreFront.bok --DD |

I thought I read on here somewhere that 944 seat belts work for late style 914 belts?

I replaced mine with some 944 belts a few years ago and they are beginning to not retract very well. Might be best to invest in new belts as the 944 belts are pretty aged by now.

Has anyone used an aftermarket belt like those from:
http://www.retrobeltusa.com/ http://www.seatbeltsplus.com/ http://www.gotbelts.com/ PEParts doesn't have anything. I came across a couple threads here about the ones from SeatBeltsPlus, but apparently they are a bit long. AA has some NOS ones, but I wonder about 30+ old seatbelts even if they're NOS. I want something that retracts well, is safe, and doesn't cost a mint. Any ideas? Photos of installations? Please share. |

I've kicked around getting or rebuilding my belts. I'm not worried about the nylon but the retractors and function at impact are critical safety features.

The new belts will have to be tightened as well (ask me how I know). The springs just get tired from the years of being wound up. The tension system is separate from the impact function and one doesn't effect the other. However, it is well known fact that if you have a loose belt on at the time of impact, your injury will likely be higher since you will "impact" the belt instead of being restrained by it.
Having to fiddle with the belts to get them to retract is annoying but easily fixed. |

Here is new driver's side seat belts for sale on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-914-left-b...=item4cfc7882c6 I bought one of those and it retracts just fine. If I could only find a passenger side belt I'd be set. |

I bought one of those and it retracts just fine. Just out of curiousity.....When you unbuckle the belt, will it easily and fully retract all the way when you let go of the belt or do you have to tug a couple times to help it? If it retracts fully when you let it go, you got a good one. I had purchased 2 new and both had to be tugged on a little bit to work them back in. |

I haven't put it in the car yet but when I pull the belt out a few feet and let go it fully retracts. Maybe not a good test yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |
