I went exploring for rust on my new roller, and found rust in the hell hole area. It was pretty much expected, as the battery tray was pretty rusty. Fortunately the longituduinal is solid, so this will really be a pretty easy fix. It also has some rust in the rear trunk, and a spot on the sail panel. The rest of the car is spotless and perfect (regarding rust). The spot on the sail panel, if nobody has nemed it, I would like to dub the heck hole. I have found it very difficult to repair that spot because you can't really get to the backside of it. If any one has any tips for repairing that, let me know (I don't want to take the fender off)

Did you take a picture of MY car? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I think I could photoshop your green for my yellow and it would be identical! I don't have any heck hole rust though. My longs look and feel pretty good too. They certainly pass the big butt test. I'd love to hear how it works out for you. Please keep us (or at least, me) informed of the progress.

Electric! Sweet! I will definitely keep the board updated as the progress happens (slow). I have an electric Opel GT project on hiatus.. someday I'll finish that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yeah these teeners are extra sweet once you get rid of all that rattling behind the seat! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I'd love to hear about your Opel GT. (probably off the list since most on here probably wouldn't care to hear about it.)
Are you going to be doing your own repairs or sending it out to a shop? Shannon |

Not much to say about the Opel.. it's got a 9" GE motor, S-10 towing clutch, and a DCP Raptor 1200 controller. No batteries or wiring yet, and it's a major beater. I'll be fun if I can ever afford to finish it.
I'll be repairing my heck and hell holes myself. Shouldn't be too hard, my main concern is the heck hole coming back because I can't really get at the back side to put on any rustproiofing, and welding will burn off the paint back there (if there is any). |

QUOTE(bondo @ Jul 13 2004, 12:59 PM) I'll be repairing my heck and hell holes myself. make sure it didn't get inside the long. while you're in there, cut out a square piece from the top of the long and have a look inside. if rusted, spray in plenty of "Metal Ready" and weld up again.
