I recently can across these tires, does anyone have any thoughts on these. I couldn't seem to find the treadwear rating, anyone know what it is?

I have them on my 914... I'm going to get a set for my '84 GTI as well.
They are great performance bargain, may not be the best, but for the price I don't think you can beat them... |

340-360 for the 15" sizes. Search the tire on Tirerack.com and click on "specs" for all the details. I had 205/45-16's on 7" Fuchs on a 914-6. Great tires for the price. You might ask J. Fort. He now has the car. Brad drove it when he was in Ohio.

i have them in 195/50 on my 914. i think our cars are too light for these to really work well. they're okay, just a little skiddish for my taste -- you can't really feel when you're about to start sliding. after your dot-r's you'll be surprised. but they're cheap!! probably as good as you can get for the price.

Sherryl was driving (I had a few beers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) ), traveling about 70ish, we had just started to pass a big rig on 680 in Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill area when all of sudden my wife says the car feels "funny", at the same time, I can feel the rear and tell her to pull over 'cause we got a flat...next thing we know, we spin towards the big rig on our left, I damn scream thinking we are going to go under the trailer and get squished like a bug, luckly the front end of the 911 hits the rear wheels of the trailer straight on and we spin back around.....a Pleasant Hill police officer saw it happen and stopped the traffice before we got ran over by speeding cars........
I did find a screw in the tire, but no signs of heat buildup as if we had been driving on a low or flat tire for any amount of time. The seperation looked clean as if cut with a blade.......one bad thing about the low-profile tires with stiff sidewall, had to feel if low on air...I know check my air pressure every few days on all my cars. |

Those are the same tires I have on my Acura. 225/40/ZR18 I'm gonna check the pressure this afternoon. |

Yipes. Mueller, I am glad you were both okay. Was thinking about switching from Yoko ES100s (which I do not like) to these on our WRX (also size 225/40R18) but now may go for Falken Azenis (though which ones!?!?), which apparently even Yokohama insiders are impressed with. Just don't want to spend $180-200 per tire. On the other hand, a sub-$100 tire doesn't seem so appealing anymore...
I know it's just one case, but my co-worker just had a really bad failure on the 210 in LA with a set of brand-new Kuhmos, just a nail, but a complete failure as above. She thought if she had gone another coupla hundred feet it woulda been worse. Bummer because I was very impressed with a set of Kuhmo 712s on a supercharged 993 I drove years ago -- for about six weeks and 2,000-3,000 miles. pete |
