I have a dead battery and a live one and two 914's. I have two questions: 1) can a 914 run without a battery installed? if so, 2) will a running 914 recharge a dead battery?

BTW - they are both Optimas.

Thx

yes, UNLESS the battery was completely discharged, in which case it won't hold any charge anymore. but you can always use it as a paper weight.

You didn't say anything about having jumper cables... but if you do, you can charge the dead one off the 914 with the good battery.. just hook it up as if you were jump starting a car, and run the 914 for a few hours with two batteries connected. If it's not a hosed battery it should charge right up.

Dont run it without a battery connected...You will kill the diodes in the ALT.

I'm not trying to be a kook (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) ; but why not just use a battery charger?

Why not use a battery charger??? Don't have one.

Alameda's not in the cards my friend, my Mum's in town and no she's not a racer (unless its to a church).

Thanks, R
