Alright, are the best ways of strengthening the body of a 914? I want to weld in a role cage but I don't have a clue which kit to buy. I know the cage is a huge factor in making the body stronger. The car is at the stage now where anything is possible so please help me out, I only want to do this once.

What does it say about tube material, diameter, and wall thickness? The 'best' way is to have a professional do it - one who's done it before. Can't recommend anyone in particular without knowing what area you're in... |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) I've been hoping to find a good 'for dummies' thread on seam welding with lots of pics showing specific areas.

I've read a lot of your Threads asking about different go fast items
I think you need to tell us what your objective is and then we can give proper advise. Are you going full race, a DE car, AutoXer, Street Performance, etc If full Race Car, you need to learn the Rulebook of the Organization you want to run with. You need the cage to meet their rules, you need to know what class different size motors will put you in, what body mods are allowed etc. Also how big is your wallet? a DE car is pretty much open, but somethings are hard to reverse also show us pictures of the car |

You should buy the cage listed in the for sale thread. I had one in mine and it is great.

Based on what I know of the players on this site ( some will not touch with a 20 foot stick ), If it were me, I would collaborate with Chris Foly. My impression, I he walks and talks what your searching for. |

A lot of people on the forum refer it to the Engman kit as he was a respected parts builder here. Since his passing it's really hard to find his parts but http://www.maddogsmotorsports.org/CHASSIS_KITS.html has the same kind of stuff. For a daily driver do not put a cage in as your head bouncing of the roll bar can kill you without a helmet on. |
