Check this out. I dropped the tranny the other night to fix a broken clutch fork (axle broke the end off when it let loose) and I found this inside. I think it was rubbing on the raised edge of the 911 pressure plate I have. I don't know if it was doing it before the accident or not, but I do remember hearing a funny "ringing" noise from the clutch area while the engine was running. Does the fork need to be clearanced for the 911 pressure plate?

The 914 pressure plate IS the 911 pressure plate. Looks like a geometry problem. If the FW's been surfaced, then you need to shim the pivot ball out with ONE plain old OE flat washer, like the ones on the tranny end cover. Can't really go muchmore than that 'cause there's not really enough threads on the pin. How's the ball cup? How thick is the disc? The Cap'n
